Thanks to their robustness and low weight, fiber-reinforced composite materials are increasingly used in the aviation and automotive industries. Manual repair of such components has to date been a challenging task. A mobile milling unit now enables automatic defect detection using modern laser sensors and laser scanners from Micro-Epsilon to enable repairs within the shortest possible time.

wireSENSOR WPS-MK miniature draw-wire sensors are specially designed for high volume serial applications. Despite its very compact design, small measuring ranges up to 7500mm can be detected. The confocal chromatic sensor product range from Micro-Epsilon is extended with the compact IFS2406-3 sensor. It can be used in restricted spaces and provides precise measurement values with a large offset distance. This is particularly favorable for distance and thickness measurements in industrial conditions, such as e.g. those in the glass industry.

Measuring tasks in the glass industry are often a huge challenge for sensors. The new confocal chromatic confocalDT 2421 / 2422 controllers ensure reliable, high speed and high precision distance and thickness measurements on reflecting and transparent objects. The automatic exposure control allows stable measurements regardless of the glass color.

The powerful eddyNCDT 3001 eddy current sensors are now also available with an M18 housing and measuring ranges of 6mm and 8mm. This enlargement provides the sensors with increased flexibility in terms of their potential applications. These temperature-compensated sensors deliver fast and precise results for a wide range of applications in all industries. Even in harsh environments where high pressures, dirt and oil are present, high precision measurements of displacement, distance and position are still possible.

The thermoIMAGER TIM M1 infrared camera is designed for temperature monitoring tasks in the metal processing industry and e.g. when hardening or forming metals. Car body IDs are punched into the vehicle frame during a complex process, which enables unambiguous identification worldwide. The embossment depth is a critical quality and security feature. Due to their extremely small light spot size, optical optoNCDT 1420 sensors from Micro-Epsilon reliably detect and measure these profiles in the embossment machine. The extremely compact design of the sensors enables their application in small installation spaces too.

To date, color measurement of liquid paint has been a lengthy, time-consuming process. A new system solution from Micro-Epsilon involving the colorCONTROL ACS7000 inline color measurement system and the optoNCDT 1420-50 laser triangulation sensor, enables real-time, high precision color determination directly from the manufacturer.

The new LabVIEW 3.0 instrument driver is now available for the scanCONTROL series of laser scanners. It’s the link between sensor and programming environment that enables direct sensor integration for further data processing. Optimization and additional features of the new driver provide ease of use and new functions. The instrument driver is offered as 32 and 64 bit versions for download.

The thicknessSENSOR for universal thickness measurement of strip and plate material is now well established. The new, extended measuring ranges up to 25mm with measuring widths up to 400mm provide this smart system with even more flexibility.
